About the Author
Harry K. Wong and Rosemary T. Wong are award-winning teachers and new teacher advocates. Harry is a native of San Francisco and is arguably the most sought-after motivational speaker in education today having given some 3000 presentations to over a million people. He has been called "Mr. Practicality" for his common sense, user-friendly, no-cost approach to managing a classroom for high-level student success. The March 2006 issue of Instructor magazine named him one of the 20 most admired people in education along with Maya Angelou, Howard Gardner, and Oprah Winfrey. Rosemary is from New Orleans, Louisiana. Her classroom success led to her selection as one of the first Mentor teachers in California. She has received many Silicon Valley business honors and the Southeastern Louisiana University Distinguished Alumni Award.

The Essentials

As a teacher going into my second year I am very grateful for this book. I loved reading "The First Days of School" as it gave me a multitude of ideas and inspired me to be as prepared as I could for my first year. This new book has also been an essential piece to my summer planning. It clearly outlines how to set up your own management plan and gives excellent, specific ideas for the procedures that are necessary for a smoothly run classroom. This would have been great to read in my first year, but I still find so much worth in this book as a second year teacher. I highly recommend it.

Great book but

Great book but...DON'T buy it if you teach high school. Despite the book's description, it is mainly geared toward elementary. Disappointed. I don't need chapters like "CLASSROOM JOBS."

Best Classroom Management Book Ever

I have been involved with Harry Wong and his training for 24 years. This new book has everything a new teacher needs. In fact, veteran teachers will profit from it also. Every time I look at one of Harry's books, I learn something new or innovative. Even with 45 years of experience in education, I love reading his book. My company trains new teachers and I have done this for 24 years and always purchase Harry Wong's book for each teacher.
