This is a terrific publication, if your into tube audio this is the book you need. I have volume one as well. Both books are really well set out, going from basic electrical theory to how tubes and associated circuits work. Igor Popovich has an excellent way of explaining even the more complex designs. I have built some of the tube amplifiers from these books with fantastic results. I could not speak more highly of this book and would recommend both publications to anyone who has an interest in the wonderful world of tube audio. Brett Edwards

I own many of the "new age" books on tubes and this is the best series so far

This book is a worthy companion to volume one. The author discusses classical tube circuits while adding new-age "tweaks" to peak amplifier performance. I've already purchased the third volume and own about half of his training DVDs. I own many of the "new age" books on tubes and this is the best series so far.

I've played a lot of baseball and over the years I've learned a few things about staying focused and so forth but I could have never put it into words and strategies the way Tom Hanson did in this book. I am thoroughly enjoying this book and it is filling my head with ideas on how to help my players. This book presents simple and concrete strategies for improving players' mental focus and process during practices and games. This is a book I will read more than once. I already restarted it once because there were so many good points that I wanted to highlight for later reference. I seem to highlight about 1/10 of every page.
The book is actually written primarily for players and has worksheets and so forth to engage the reader and make them active in the process. My players are 7 and 8 so I cannot have them read it but I've recommended it to their parents because some of the strategies at the start of the book are relevant for being a successful person, not just a successful athlete. In many ways these really young players are the ones that need these lessons the most but they lack the attention span for a book like this. Maybe when they are 12. I am enjoying using small doses of it with my players and I am looking forward to what the long term impact of these lessons will be for these boys.

Book seem to work for my son

I never read the book, but my son (14) read it in a few days last week and then he went 4 for 5 that weekend. That ended a huge slump for him. I'm not sure what the book did for him, but when I asked, he said something about humming tunes, breathing techniques, confidence, and routines. He also was doing something funny with his glove. He called it part of "his routine". My son could hit in the batting cages and practice but not so well in the games. That changed this last weekend. Only difference was this book. But could be coincidence. Will see over the next few weeks. His coaches and hitting coach always tell him his problem is in his head. Sounds like a common problem for all baseball players from little league to Major Leagues.

A great tool for a serious ball player

This is a great book-easy read. If you want to bring your playing or coaching to another level, this helps with the mental part of the game. It is an easy read. I learned about this book from a sports physch training. It brings into focus what happens when we don't let the game end and continue to stew. I recommend this from 12 years and older.

ElBulli 1994-1997

This book and it's two sequels give an insight into the mind of a creative genius, Ferran Adria .They are VERY expensive and really mainly of use to the professional chef. Even then, I suspect that one would have to buy Adria's products to get a few recipes (these are very expensive in Australia). Adria describes some of his techniques but really gives no recipes. I think that even a professional chef will have difficulties in producing anything other than the few recipes they will have because one really needs to have
scientific training as well. In the 2004 book, he is using liquid nitrogen to produce spectacular effects but the use of this product requires such
specialised equipment and training that it is beyond the average chef's capabilities and finance .As an aesthetic exercise, all books are masterpieces.One can access some recipes on the internet but some of these suffer from translation errors (Spanish to English). Ph.D Qual.Chef.

Not in Spanish

This review is not about the book but about the seller. I don't know why I assumed this book was in spanish (that's how I wanted it) and bought it without hesitation because Ferran Adria is my husband's idol. I got it for my husband's birthday and when he opened it we realised that it was in english (El Bulli is in Spain). I contacted the seller asking to change this book for spanish one, he didn't have one, so when I said I wanted to return it he informed me that it didn't have the same price as before because we removed the film when we opened it. My final email was asking how much the difference would be, I never got an answer. Anyway, I have a book in english that my husband will have to translate every step of the way, and that was his birhtday present :(

This is a great collection of stories. Too often the artistic talent in Africa is overloooked because of the turmoil in some parts of the land. This book is for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of the African people and their lives that one cannot get from headlines.

Good selection

This book contains a good selection of stories written by esteemed African writers from various regions of Africa. The book is divided by these regions: East Africa, Northern Africa, West Africa, Southern Africa. Most of the stories are good little reads and offer insight into African culture. Overall a good book.
