I like this book, but after learning some phrases, I was told by Nepali people that I know that these phrases are not used in everyday life. They told me that those words were not really the way they speak. I guess the book must use more formal language.

uses transliteration but NOT devanagari

There are two ways to represent Nepali words. first you can write them in Devanagari, which would require that you learn to read Devanagari ( the Sanskrit-based alphabet which they use) or you can use the closest-equivalent transliterated word using the English alphabet. this one just uses the transliteration. If you are serious about stuying Nepali, you would benefit more by getting the Devanagari version ALONG WITH the transliteration - I hope they do this for future editions....

Went from a 40% to 85% on pharm portion of nursing program exit exam with this!

I absolutely love these pharm cards! I am in my last semester of nursing school, and had to really crash study for my exit exam. With these cards, I was able to go from a 40% on pharm to an 85%. I am a visual learner and these silly but very helpful cartoons really work for me. I highly recommend them! All of my classmates love them once they see them. They are a little bulky as the spiral notebook itself is pretty thick, but I had no problem holding them in my lab coat or scrub pocket... so long as I tied my pants tight!

Use as an accompainment for studying for Pharm....

I like it...for what it does and for the medications it does have. Meaning, that i wouldn't skip buying the book I needed for pharmacology but it has made it alot easier when it comes to studying for pharm as the cute pictures and mnemoics makes it easier to understand certain class of drugs and medications. But as probably noted in previous reviews, there is a lack of certain medications and shouldn't be used as a basis alone for studying for pharm.

Review of Boyle's Oedipus (Seneca)

A better edition is hardly possible. The introduction is excellent (thorough but balanced), the text is accompanied by a very basic and readable English translation that aids one's tour through the Latin text, and the end-commentary is incredibly rich. Seneca's Oedipus isn't a very popular work, but this will quickly become a standard among scholars (not for student's though, since the facing English will keep this text out of the classroom.)

This book alone can get you past 70-697. Author didn't do a great job though.

The 70-688 and 70-687 books had a clearer layout and contained less errors than this book. Though this book covers all the topics you need to pass 70-697, the content jumps around, and could be laid out much better. I also generally disagree with what Andrew decided to cover in depth, vs what he chose to condense and leave to technet articles for further elaboration. Moreover, having skimmed through it once, I already have about a dozen errors to send to Microsoft on this one. Andrew wrote the 70-687 book, and I was surprised in what I feel was a sharp turn downward in quality and attention to detail in this book. Having read it once now, there's at least a dozen errors I was able to find - nothing huge that would cause a fundamental misunderstanding of a concept, but more like, "this kid didn't proofread his essay enough before he turned it in." This book also contains a LOT more whitespace than the 70-688 and 70-687 books...there's some areas where I can't help but wonder if they were just trying to artificially inflate the page count. You won't see what I'm talking about from the content shown in the "peek inside" preview, but you'll remember this when you've bought the book and are reading it - which you should.

The book itself, despite my contentions, is still GOOD. It's just not the same quality I expected from him. If you want the most condensed study guide you can get, that will still prepare you well enough to pass the test, this is it. If you don't understand a concept in the book, you need to go research it before moving on. Once you can read the book from start to finish, comprehend everything he's saying, and remember most of it, you're ready to take the test. On a side note, the one thing I'd suggest coupling this with would be the 70-697 course from cbtnuggets. The overlap is between this and cbtnuggets is 100%, with cbtnuggets being even further condensed. The value I find there is that I remember things better when I see them presented twice in two different ways. If you're REALLY good at remembering things and visualizing what's going on as you read, you don't need to do labs. I've been doing Microsoft tests since server 2008, and have always passed them without the labs - not always on my first try, mind you. On a final sidenote, you should really invest in the $200 booster pack version of the exam voucher when you are ready to take the test.

Could be better but it will still get you there

I am really quite peeved that in studying this book for the exam it has several sections where it claims "we are not going into detail about this subject but you will need to know this for the exam" but then refer's to a technet link. It wouldnt bother me if this was a huge book to cover this information.

Also there are a few objective review questions that dont have explanations in the preceding context so it can be a little frustrating that you cant be prepared to answer the questions unless you go to the internet for further information.

Other than that its the only full book on the market as of now to cover this exam so it is what it is.

So - so book. Not really great.

One of my complaints is that the diagrams are really small - hard to read. So when reviewing the questions in the book, some of the answers rely on you having a good understanding of what is presented in the diagrams. Also, not sure of if this is due to the nature of the exam, but it seems that the questions asked in the book really depends on the small procedural details rather than the overall broad concept. This whole learning experience becomes a long memorization exercise. But to be fair, the book does warn you that it's for someone already exposed to admin.

I liked it, but ...

Alex De Luca was just a teenager when she lied and sent her friend, Rafe Mason, an innocent man, to prison for eight years. Instead of speaking up and doing the right thing, she let him rot in a cell while his hatred for her grew into something uncontrollable.

Now he's out on parole and he has only one objective. To break her in a way that she broke him. He wants her screams, her tears, and he wants to see her shatter into millions of pieces.

Honestly, this is a difficult book for me to review. A part of me disliked it while another part of me was sucked into everything that was happening. I'm not a stranger to darker reads and I rather enjoy stepping outside of my comfort zone and getting truly engrossed in a good work of fiction.
The emotions that this kind of story tends to draw out of me are usually quite strong. They range from anger, disgust, acceptance, and it really forces me to try and understand just what made a character the way that they are.

Now there is a warning that Torrent features sexual scenes and violence that may offend some. I'm pretty sure we all know to expect something like that from a darker read. However, I know that some people have triggers and I want to let you know that there is rape between step-siblings in this book. If that hits home for you and will trigger a horrific memory, then you may want to pass on this one.

I did find it really hard to feel for Alex. I understand, to an extent, why she did what she did. But honestly, her actions once she was kidnapped baffled me. There wasn't enough of their past in this first book to make me form a connection. To make me understand how she could care for Rafe as he was hurting her. Torturing her. Violating her.

If I really reflect on the situation I can see where Rafe was coming from. He cared for a girl who essentially threw him away and let him rot for eight years. Things happen when you're locked up that change you. He had a lot of time to allow his anger to turn into an inferno like rage that would destroy everything around it, and of course he had his eyes set on one girl in particular.

This was a really quick read for me. There were some areas of the story that I felt like the execution was a little off, but Gemma's writing is captivating enough that I was able to overlook that fact.

I will admit that the ending drove me absolutely CRAZY. Not because it's a cliffhanger. I have no issues with those kinds of endings. However, I found the change of direction in the very last chapter to feel more like a cop-out than anything.

Overall I would have to give Torrent 3 stars. It wasn't what I was expecting, and I do hope to see more character development and more glimpses into their past.

So bad, I refused to waste another moment reading it!

First of all, the whole set up was too ridiculous to believe. Alex was being raped by her step brother, forced to have an abortion, forced to claim Rafe, the love of her life had raced her and forced to remain quiet while he gets convicted and spends 8 years in prison. All the while she continues to be the unwilling submissive to her step brother. Rafe gets out, kidnaps Alex and then he begins to rape her all while trying to find out why she accused him.

Alex and Rafe were not well fleshed out. Too many character contradictions. He loves her but hates her...well okay that could be done but the author just didn't pull it off. The poor little rich girl syndrome just didn't work. The dialogue didn't work, the sex scenes didn't work.

I stopped reading when towards the end, Rafe and the step brother Zach duke it out and some preposterously stupid moves are made. I cannot tolerate stupid characters doing stupid things.

Don't waste your time or money. This was very poorly written story of a very poorly thought out plot.

Waste of $2.99!

I don't know what possessed me to buy this book! (Okay, okay, I admit, the cover had a lot to do with it! ; P) I expected more from this book and was pretty disappointed with the whole thing. The storyline was completely ridiculous, I couldn't stand Alex at all because of how spineless she was and the ending was lame. Even though it ended on a cliffhanger it was so obvious what was going to happen I don't feel the need to buy book two. I'm wishing I hadn't spent the $2.99 on this book because it was a waste of my time and money!
